Rothko Museum is a multifunctional complex of contemporary art, culture and education situated in the Arsenal building at Daugavpils Fortress. It is the only place in Eastern Europe where the original masterpieces of the famous painter and the founder of abstract expressionism Mark Rothko can be seen.
Rothko Museum offers:
- Mark Rothko’s original pieces and reproductions
- digital exposition on the artist’s life and creative works
- video hall and Rothko Silent Room
- cultural and historical expositions
- variable exhibitions of works by Latvian, European and world-known artists
Next to the Rothko Museum, a cultural and art space -“Martinsons House” with the permanent exhibition “The City of Dreams” of works by ceramist Pēteris Martinsons, changing exhibitions and an open stock of contemporary ceramics is available for a visit.
There is also a souvenir kiosk and “Arsenal” Cafe on the premises of the Rothko Museum that can accommodate up to 60 visitors.
There are 14 residences (hotel rooms) available in the centre.
Visitors are offered a wide range of conference facilities.
