The 7th International Living History Festival “Dinaburga 1812” will be held in Daugavpils Fortress on July 13th.
On Saturday, July 13th, from 10:00 AM, there will be a flea market, a market of homemade products, and cafes on Mihaila and Nikolaja Streets. There will be a children’s attraction area and an exhibition of military equipment and weapons from the National Guard and Latvian Riflemen near “Martinsons House”. In additional, the inner courtyard of the Engineers’ Arsenal will be open for visitors until 7:00 PM. Free entrance.
At 11:30 AM, the ceremonial opening of the Nicholas Gate will begin.
At 12:00 PM, the noon shot will sound, and the march of historical reenactment clubs will start towards the Commandant’s Garden, where flowers will be laid at the monument-fountain dedicated to the construction of the fortress.
From 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, a workshop “Try Ancient Hand Tools” will take place in the courtyard of the Engineers’ Arsenal.
At 1:00 PM, the folklore ensemble “Rusiči” (Daugavpils Russian Culture Centre) will perform near the Nicholas Gate.
At 2:00 PM, a duel – reenactment performance will take place in the fortress moat.
At 3:00 PM, the main event of the day will take place: the reenactment of the battle of the fortress defence.
At 4:00 PM, living history clubs will be honoured, and a commemoration will take place near the stage in the courtyard of the Rothko Museum.
At 5:00 PM, in the premises of the gunpowder storage in the 8th bastion on Nikolaja Street 15, the opening of the photo exhibition “Forts: Invasion of Colours” (Lithuania) will take place.
At 6:00 PM, on the wooden deck behind the Daugavpils Fortress Visitor Centre, an Empire Ball will take place, and the folklore ensemble “Rusiči” will perform historical romances.
At 10:00 PM, on the stage in the courtyard of the Rothko Museum, there will be a concert by the post-folklore group “Rikši”.
The festival is organised by the Daugavpils City Municipality and the Daugavpils City Municipal Institution, “Daugavpils Fortress and Museum Administration”.
