On 31 July 2021, Daugavpils City Municipality Tourism Development and Information Agency and the exhibition “Shmakovka Museum” will hold a festival “Gostūs Latgolā” dedicated to Latgale’s hospitality and traditions, as well as the 5-year anniversary of the exhibition “Shmakovka Museum”.
Daugavpils Šmakovka museum turns 5 years old and in the meantime, the museum has become a magnet for Daugavpils tourism, a center for the preservation of Latgale cultural history and culinary heritage, with the possibility for all residents and guests of the city to explore Latgale’s traditions, experience and history.
All day long from 12 pm to 10 pm, there will be a number of activities in Daugavpils Vienības Square, for example, Latgale’s home producer market and culinary masterclasses from national associations from Daugavpils.
As part of the “Gostūs Latgolā” campaign, there will also be an orienteering game throughout the city of Daugavpils “Hi!Story: Latgola”, during which there will be an opportunity to learn more about outstanding people born in Daugavpils and Latgale, learn about the traditions of Latgale, about the culinary and cultural heritage. “Hi! Story: Latgola” is a game about knowing our hometown. Everyone can take part – families, seniors, children, and youth. Within the framework of the festival, the meeting of the Latvian Antique Car Club (AAK) “Daugavpils inspires!” will also take place on Vienibas Square. AAK members will go to the retro car parade in Daugavpils and hold an exhibition of the Soviet car industry on Vienibas Square and Daugavpils Fortress.
