International Tourism Matchmaking Event “Daugavpils – take your time, have a rest and enjoy” will be held for the second time in Daugavpils between September 26th – 27th, 2019. Tourism agencies, tourism operators and travel and tourism journalists from Latvia and other countries are invited to attend the event.
On the first day of the event, participants will come together in Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre where they will be greeted by representatives of the Daugavpils City Council and Daugavpils District Council, as well as the Tourism Department of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. Guests will look at current tourism industry highlights in Daugavpils City and Daugavpils District. Later, participants of the event will have a chance to visit a new exhibition of the original works of the world-famous artist Mark Rothko, as well as most popular objects in Daugavpils Fortress. Further according to the programme – a visit to the other tourist objects in Daugavpils is planned. On the evening of the first day, business-to-business (B2B) negotiations will be held with entrepreneurs of the local tourism industry. Representatives of tourism objects, catering and accommodation enterprises, as well as travel agencies of Daugavpils and Daugavpils District, will engage in the negotiations.
What’s more, participants will have an opportunity to get to know Latgale culinary heritage in the largest Shmakovka Museum in Latvia on the second day of the event. Apart from that, guests will learn about the life of Jews in Daugavpils and Latgale while visiting Daugavpils Synagogue and the “Jewish of Daugavpils un Latgale” Museum. Afterwards, participants will visit some notable sightseeing places outside the town. For instance, “Silene Resort & SPA” where the accommodation, Nature SPA and Shmakovka Laboratory, as well as “Silenes Terases” Restaurant that has entered the TOP 30 list of Latvia’s best restaurants will be presented to the tourism industry professionals. Next, participants will visit “Burtnieki” Residence and Svente Manor, where theatrical guided tour together with the lady of the manor will be offered to the guests. At the end of the programme, guests will visit one of the most popular tourist places in the Daugavpils District – “JuRita” Mini Zoo.
The main aim of the Tourism Matchmaking Event is to establish cooperation between Daugavpils, Latvian, as well as foreign tourism industry professionals (tourism agencies and operators) and tourism service providers, as well as to promote Daugavpils City and Daugavpils District as a diverse and interesting tourist destination, where it is worth staying for a longer time, relax and enjoy.
