Starting from May 16, 2020 Daugavpils Fortress Culture and Information Centre will open its doors to visitors. In keeping with the restrictions and safety measures decreed by the government, Daugavpils Fortress Culture and Information Centre will accept up to 6 visitors, keeping 2m distance and using hand sanitizers that are available at the centre.

In keeping with the restrictions and safety measures decreed by the government, as of May 16, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will open its doors to visitors with six temporary exhibitions and a permanent exhibit featuring original works by artist Mark Rothko.

Having rescheduled the 3rd Latvia Ceramics Biennale to the summer of 2021, its organisers extend the application deadline for the international juried exhibition of ceramics “Martinsons Award” until 1 November 2020.

Spring has come to Latgale Zoo in Daugavpils. Grass is starting to grow and flowers bloom in the courtyard. Tree frogs are singing in the Zoo exposition. Meerkats and dwarf rabbits are sunbathing in the spring sun; also, other inhabitants feel the arrival of the warm weather.

It is decided to cancel the 6th International Historical Re-enactment and Rock Music Festival “Dinaburg 1812” in 2020. This decision was made in connection with the decision to cancel or postpone events in the summer of 2020 and taking into account the state of emergency in the country.

The exhibition “Daugavpils Jewish Society and the Jewish Community” displays 40 photographs depicting the life of Jews in Daugavpils from 1949 to 2019.

E-scooter or Ninebot KickScooter by Segway ES2 is available for rent at the “Park Hotel Latgola” Hotel. It can reach the speed of 25 km/h. The scooter has a headlamp and backlight, so it is safe during the night time.

With the extension of the nationwide state of emergency, the organisers of the 3rd Latvia Ceramic Biennale have decided to reschedule the entire programme and its central event – the international juried exhibition “MARTINSONS AWARD” – for the summer of 2021.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on the emergency situation in the country, many of Daugavpils tourist attractions are closed to visitors, however, the work continues and we offer to virtually enjoy cultural and tourism opportunities.

Daugavpils Tourist Information Centre is closed for visitors from 13 March 2020 due to the announced emergency situation in Latvia because of the COVID-19 infection.

After the long winter break, Daugavpils Lead Shot Factory is about to reopen the tourist season from March, 13th. Guided tours at the factory during the spring season will be available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
