December is one of the most beautiful months of the year: a blanket of soft, white snow covers the ground, awakening the bright feeling of happiness in everyone’s heart, that, just like in childhood, makes you look forward for the favourite holiday of the year – Christmas.
This year, in Daugavpils, Latvia’s second largest city, a real Christmas miracle can be experienced. When the festive season comes, the city shines in lights and becomes a real fairy tale that is about the Christmas train that is traveling from Daugavpils station to the lighting of the city’s main Christmas tree that has left gifts, sweets and even a small Christmas tree behind.
The whole Rigas Street and Unity Square will be “covered” with the glittering surprises. The main Christmas tree in Unity Square will be dressed in a colourful bow. In addition, the residence of Santa Claus will open its doors to visitors in the Daugavpils Fortress, where the gnomes and Santa Claus will have many surprises for everyone.
